Cry awhile

Heart pounding

Brain exploding

You wonder what to do

The pain it tears

At emptiness

Isolated and alone

Coruscating deadliness

When there’s no direction home

Well, I’m crying to the heavens

Feel like a helpless child

Yes, I cried for you

Now I’ll sit and cry awhile

Chest heaving

Shallow breathing

Lamps are burning low

The hope it flickers

At idle fears

The fringes of the night

Cascading misspent years

When darkness dims the light

Well, I’m crying to the heavens

Feel like a helpless child

Yes, I cried for you

Now I’ll sit and cry awhile

Redemption Paradox

She was the rose of Sharon from Paradise Lost

The scent of peach blossom beneath the Conquerer’s cross

I told her about my own agony and the driving rain

She told me about the year when her innocence was slain

Was she a girl or a woman, I can’t say which

From one to another she could easily switch

My Kether, my Abbadon, my redemption

We went to a place that our friends could not reach

We learned from the lessons we both could teach

She looked into my soul through the clothes that I wore

And told me without words that she knew the score

Was she a girl or a woman, I can’t say which

From one to another she could easily switch

My Kether, my Abbadon, my redemption

Our lives they were ruins and her heart was a snare

We both had to run and leave hate to die there

I hear my voice crying, “Help,” and she echoes back

But it’s only the silence as the darkness does crack

Was she a girl or a woman, I can’t say which

From one to another she could easily switch

My Kether, my Abbadon, my redemption

Now the screws break loose, I see the devil pound tin

I see homes in our country being torn from within

I hear my ancestors calling from a land far beyond

So I sit here and wait for our pain to respond

Was she a girl or a woman, I can’t say which

From one to another she could easily switch

My Kether, my Abbadon, my redemption

Hands Off Castledown

They tell you the school’s not worthy

But sister they don’t care

They’ve got a new covenant

And an ark that’s going spare

Cain slayed his brother

Or so the Bible says

And Noah rescued animals

While wearing an Egyptian fez

It’s art for ark sake

Hands off Castledown

We don’t want mini automatons

In a world that’s falling down

They’ll be sacrificing the first born

So sister it’s time to care

They’re taking lambs to the slaughter

In the emperor’s new underwear

Cain slayed his brother

Or so the Bible says

And Noah rescued animals

While wearing an Egyptian fez

It’s art for ark sake

Hands off Castledown

We don’t want mini automatons

In a world that’s falling down

They tell you there’s no option

But sister you still care

They’ll try a cruel diversion

With a SATuration scare

Cain slayed his brother

Or so the Bible says

And Noah rescued animals

While wearing an Egyptian fez

It’s art for ark sake

Hands off Castledown

We don’t want mini automatons

In a world that’s falling down

The contract is worth millions

But sister you won’t care

They’ll be shooting up on anything

Because tomorrow’s never there

Cain slayed his brother

Or so the Bible says

And Noah rescued animals

While wearing an Egyptian fez

It’s art for ark sake

Hands off Castledown

We don’t want mini automatons

In a world that’s falling down

African Jasmine

I dreamed of you in the desert dust

In a war-torn land condemned

All the way from Mogadishu

To old Jerusalem

See the villages they are burning

Hear the screams of mice and men

Smell that sweet jasmine blooming

Watch the ghost of freedom descend

Well, God is in His heaven

He’s there when the wind does bend

But power and greed and corruptible sin

Is the devil’s dividend

Now, I’m staring at the window

Watching the February clouds ascend

Listening to the last crescendo

Trying to make amends

I hear your voice in honey dew

Your perfect words transcend

All the way from Notting Hill

To the last World’s End

Nomad Speaks

Remember that day when your father died

Lost in the moment you swallowed your pride

Embraced your loved ones blacker than white

A spirit stronger than hatred was at work that night

Wrap up your heart

And open your soul

Empty your sins

Until you feel whole

Hush for a moment

As the violet shrieks

Look to the skies

And Nomad Speaks

Remember that day when you found out the truth

Lost in the moment you didn’t need proof

All those tears shed on the Wall were shed in vain

In this life nothing learnt means nothing is gained

Wrap up your heart

And open your soul

Empty your sins

Until you feel whole

Hush for a moment

As the violet shrieks

Look to the skies

And Nomad Speaks

Remember that day when the axe came right down

Lost in the moment as it split open your crown

Blood ran in torrents across your eyes and your face

But the true love of others was your saving grace

Wrap up your heart

And open your soul

Empty your sins

Until you feel whole

Hush for a moment

As the violet shrieks

Look to the skies

And Nomad Speaks

Fans United Will Never Be Defeated

Ken Richardson’s fire

Stoked the Doncaster ire

It only took a spark

To ignite his moment in the dark

They can’t understand

In their money-grabbing hands

When they try to steal our game

They are all the bloody same

We will not be tamed and seated

Fans united together

Will never be defeated

Bill Archer made a killing

From his crooked Goldstone shilling

But the soaring Seagulls now fly

Under a blue and white sky

They can’t understand

In their money-grabbing hands

When they try to steal our game

They are all the bloody same

We will not be tamed and seated

Fans united together

Will never be defeated

Alex Hamilton’s wrecking ball

Swung the Racecourse call

As the evil ball came down

Wrexham’s fans saved their ground

They can’t understand

In their money-grabbing hands

When they try to steal our game

They are all the bloody same

We will not be tamed and seated

Fans united together

Will never be defeated

Roland Duchatelet’s sleight of hand

Unites the Valley stand

The fans now deal their own CARD

As they clear him from their yard

They can’t understand

In their money-grabbing hands

When they try to steal our game

They are all the bloody same

We will not be tamed and seated

Fans united together

Will never be defeated

Karl Oyston sues football fans for fun

But his regime is now undone

Under the famous Blackpool lights

Here come the Tangerine Knights

They can’t understand

In their money-grabbing hands

When they try to steal our game

They are all the bloody same

We will not be tamed and seated

Fans united together

Will never be defeated

The Artist

Come to a place where black is the colour

Under Vincent’s starry night

Light cascades into pastel and charcoal

With bright eyes on a Moscow night

This is your place

This is your space

Where Suburbia

Meets Utopia

The painter does paint and the evening cries

The dawn is surely coming

The broken road leads to St Petersburg

And the sky is softly humming

This is your place

This is your space

Where Suburbia

Meets Utopia

Elena she waits with baited breath

Her canvas is an open door

Colour it paints a camera that sings

From the ceiling to the wooden floor

This is your place

This is your space

Where Suburbia

Meets Utopia

So dance in the snow laden moonlight

Amid sketches of shadowy grey

The burning chair beholds an impression

Where the Pet Shop boys do play

This is your place

This is your space

Where Suburbia

Meets Utopia

It’s bitterly cold and the frost hangs still

Under the pale sun of the winter weather

The evening light sighs and the steely skies

Light spoken images for ever and ever

This is your place

This is your space

Where Suburbia

Meets Utopia

Painting by Instagram

Sitting at home I landed in Moscow

With a tall  blonde artist by my side

The scenery around us made me stumble

And my thoughts they too began to slide

But pretty Elena, she was so humble

Now everything was black and white

Hitting a key I arrived in Brussels

On a journey so bumpy that I almost cried

Bright-eyed Elke painted Paul’s Blackbird

And her 20/20 vision it was so wide

The young artist was more than a password

As her colours shimmered in shades of light

Driving on I stopped over in Lombardy

With Michael Caine’s ‘Job’ on my mind

Dark-haired Sara was beginning a journey

And her Nikon camera strapped close behind

Through her eyes she unwrapped her country

Well beyond HG Wells’ colours of the blind

A special airlift dropped me in Berlin

The freedom of thought could now be told

German Ginette danced in the moonlight

Her views by the wall were bright and bold

This girl’s photographs shone like a searchlight

Like Burton’s spy coming in from the cold

Willow’s End

I’ll wait for you where the Willow bends

Where lives and deeds make no amends

Branches and leaves punctate the sky

Life races quickly

And the grey gulls fly

Talk to me, talk to me, we have such little time

We drift this way and pass sublime

And sip our cup of blood red wine

I’ll wait for you where the fenland breaks

Where time releases our past mistakes

Branches and leaves punctate the sky

Life races quickly

And the grey gulls fly

Talk to me, talk to me, we have such little time

The day it breaks and shadows fade

Into a life of light and shade

I’ll wait for you by the wooded glen

Where lovers search for the souls of men

Branches and leaves punctate the sky

Life races quickly

And the grey gulls fly

Talk to me, talk to me, we have such little time

Turn and face the tangled weeds

Forget the curse of forgotten deeds

I’ll wait for you on the old brown moss

Where the water birds don’t count the cost

Branches and leaves punctate the sky

Life races quickly

And the grey gulls fly

Talk to me, talk to me, we have such little time

Clouds of oblivion blow around my head

And we creep still closer to the living dead

I’ll wait for you where the seas cascade

Where life and death are not betrayed

Branches and leaves punctate the sky

Life races quickly

And the grey gulls fly

Talk to me, talk to me, we have such little time

Then drink to me at the graveside brae

And pray together for the passing day
